BERGSLAGSKANALEN

    Bergslagskanalen is an adventure with history; floodgating and nature close by. The waterroute is 65 km and stretches from Karlskoga in the south to Filipstad in the north. We begin at the open-air recreation area Lunedet where a camping is situated. The journey offers varied nature with high forrestridges, mosses, lakes and channels before we reach Nässundet. Northwards from Nässundet are Gransundet situated and also Kummelhöjden with a view over the magnificent surroundings. We paddle further towards Stor-Lungen where Lungälven has its mouth. This place gives opportunities to make a detour in the winding river before we continue towards Bjurbäckens floodgates. At Bjurbäcken we take the floodgates and the 3-km channel which was dug by hand. After the floodgate at Asphyttan the journey continues towards Filipstad where we turn back towards Karlskoga. If we want some variations on the home journey we go through Prästbäcken down towards Storfors and then further to the final destination Karlskoga. The journeys total length will be about 120 km and takes 7 days. If you want to go on a 4-days journey you paddle one direction only. There is good opportunities for camping in the area.;
